Lets do some reading:
Ms Yvonne Chia
Group Managing Director and Chief Executive
Hong Leong Bank Berhad
An international banker for over 25 years, she started her career in Bank of America and has worked in Malaysia and the region. Highly regarded in the banking community in Malaysia, she also has the distinction of being the first woman in January 1996 to become the Chief Executive Officer of any Malaysian bank.
She successfully grew RHB Bank into one of the leading local banking groups in Malaysia and in the region over the challenging 1996-2002 period of the Asian financial crisis. During her tenure, RHB Bank grew from the 6th largest to the 3rd largest bank in Malaysia, having transformed into a full-fledged financial services company. She also headed a distressed bank (the former Sime Bank) under the ambit of Bank Negara Malaysia during the Asian crisis from 1999 to 2000, whilst concurrently helming RHB Bank as the Managing Director.
She is currently the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive of Hong Leong Bank. Under her leadership and stewardship, the bank transformed into a formidable full-fledged financial services organization with leading market positions including multi-channel banking. She led the bank towards a two-fold increase in profits from organic growth, significantly enhanced shareholder value creation as well as built new capabilities.
Apart from enlarging the embedded domestic franchise and its operations in Singapore and Hong Kong, Hong Leong Bank became the first Malaysian bank to make a strategic investment in the Chinese banking sector through its 20% strategic investment in Bank of Chengdu Co., Ltd.. During her tenure, Hong Leong Bank is also the first Southeast Asian bank to be awarded a wholly-owned foreign subsidiary banking license in Vietnam. She also led the diversification of the bank into Islamic financial services through the set-up of Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad and Hong Leong Tokio Marine Takaful Berhad.
Her presence yesterday, make me glued to my seat and listen carefully to every single words came out from her mouth. Girl power betol. She is so calm yet so firm still so humble. Envy her much! She mentioned that she loves to work with people from the group of 25-35 of ages. Ada chance nih!
She admit that she is HARD on people but thats what she has to practice to be a good CEO. What's important to the Company betterment should be execute by the right person at the right time using the right mechanics. There's no ME, MYSELF and I in an organization. It was a TEAM effort. Each of us do contribute to the growth or downfall to a Company. Deal with it. Show the world are your worth for every Dollar you get from the Company?
p/s : kalau dia ni dapat Dato' ok lagi...ini..si Zahida Rafik???? Apakah!?
